Getting ready for an examination

Версия для печати A  A  A

To secure test result accuracy and reliability you should strictly follow the preparation guidelines for upcoming laboratory examination. The standardization of the procedure for the examination, and the overall quality of examination results, depends, in large, on the quality of your preparation.

Treat yourself with the attention and care that you deserve.

Getting ready for drawing blood:

  • An important factor in laboratory examinations is having blood taken on an empty stomach. This means that 12 hours should pass between the time when you last ate and the time when you have your blood drawn.

Getting ready for specimen collection from urogenital canal:

  1. During a three day period before specimen collection abstain from alcohol and sexual activity.
  2. Try not to urinate for 2 hours prior to specimen collection.
  3. Stop taking local use medication.
  4. Two weeks prior to the examination stop taking any antibiotics, if such treatment was previously administered.

Getting ready for spermogram examination:

  1. Before the examination it is recommended to abstain from sexual activity for three 24-hour periods, not to take alcohol and/or smoke.
  2. Refrain from any thermal action applied to genitals area for a 24-hour period prior to the examination.

Getting ready for specimen collection from nasopharynx and oral cavity:

Abstain from eating, drinking, gargling and brushing your teeth right before having specimen taken from oral cavity and nasopharynx.

Personal vacuum systems for taking blood samples

Using closed vacuum systems for taking vein blood samples is highly convenient for both the patient and the physician, and safe in terms of excluding the possibility of blood contacting with the environment.

The system ensures the highest possible accuracy in observing the rules of preanalytical stage in laboratory examinations, substantially decreasing the possibility of error. The system's diversity provides for safe and comfortable blood sampling for all types of laboratory testing.

The vacuum blood collection system is similar to a regular syringe, but instead of having a regular piston it uses the pressure created by vacuum inside the test-tube. Blood taken for production of serum or plasma is centrifuged directly within the test-tube using separating gel, which separates serum from grume, and thus secures quality long-term storage of the specimen.

Pros of blood sampling using vacuum systems

  • Ability to collect blood into two or more test-tubes within a short period of time without having to insert the needle more then one time.
  • Swiftness of the blood collection procedure (5-10 seconds).
  • Providing highest safety level possible for the medical personnel administering the test - the system is constructed in such a way that there is no possibility of blood specimen contacting the environment.
  • Ensuring the highest level of precision in blood to anticoagulant ratio.
  • Ability to use the test-tube without having to open the top when working with certain automatic analyzers.

Best choice for manipulations is using vacuum systems.
